About Movement Mantra
The Movement Mantra Method
At Movement Mantra Physical Therapy we are a self pay or “cash based” therapy model.
This doesn’t mean you only have to pay with cash! It just means we don’t take insurance. This allows for a one-on-one setting without the rush or being told exercises and then fending for yourself. You can expect in-depth evaluations and personalized plans of care. The initial evaluation consists of a conversation about your history, needs and goals, and then a physical evaluation to determine what may be causing your pain or limitations. From there, your doctor of physical therapy will devise an individualized treatment plan using the biopsychosocial model that addresses acute and chronic issues you may be facing. We offer a variety of services including manual therapy, trigger point dry needling and specialized targeted exercises to promote healing. With a movement focused methodology and comprehensive approach we work not only to decrease pain but to progress you in a way that allows you to meet your individual goals.
Movement Mantra goes beyond traditional insurance based practices to give you tools to prevent injury, move optimally, and cultivate positive habits for an active, healthy life.
Our Philosophy

Meet Libby
Founder of Movement Mantra Physical Therapy & Coaching
Dr. Elizabeth “Libby” Schwartz graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy after earning her Bachelor’s in Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
Early in her career, Libby saw how traditional, insurance-based therapy limited the ability to truly treat the whole person. That realization sparked Movement Mantra Physical Therapy, a cash-based practice dedicated to helping people move beyond pain, improve performance, and build strength for life.
As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Precision Nutrition Coach, and Registered Yoga Teacher, Libby integrates strength, mobility, mindset, and nutrition to create a truly holistic, fitness-forward approach. Through her signature CORE Method—Clarity, Organize, Rise, Embody— she helps high-performing and highly driven individuals—from entrepreneurs and professionals to runners and active adults—gain clarity around their health, rebuild their foundation, and design systems for longevity.
Her clients are the go-getters—the people who refuse to settle for burnout or pain and instead want to perform, lead, and live fully for decades to come. Whether they’re getting back to running, returning to the gym, or staying strong for the long haul, Libby helps them create the strength, energy, and freedom to do what they love most.
Beyond one-on-one coaching, Libby is creating spaces for connection and collaboration through the Movement Mantra Mastermind and the Human Health Collective—bringing together health professionals, entrepreneurs, and community members to reimagine what it means to live well.
When she’s not coaching or leading events, you can find her running the Chattanooga Riverwalk, lifting weights, in a yoga class, dancing salsa and bachatta with the Chattalatin crewor exploring the world—connecting with new cultures, sharing good food, and spending time with friends and family.
The Mind Behind the Movement:
FAQ
-
Mantra: Origin: Sanskrit - literally “a thought behind speech or action”, more currently “that which is often repeated and expresses something that people believe in.”
When Libby was traveling in Thailand, mantras were phrases used to help with a meditative practice. As an active person, moving meditations such as yoga or running were always more her style. Making movement her mantra. Thus, Movement Mantra was born.
We all move in different ways with different activity preferences but the movement is a constant. The Movement Mantra Physical Therapy practice works to get you back to the activity you love, allowing you to repeat the mantra of movement that you most cherish.

The initial evaluation will consist of a medical history review in order to understand all past and current medical conditions so your therapist can ensure you are an appropriate candidate for physical therapy. The therapist will review your movement goals and perform a physical examination looking at areas that may be contributing to your unique problem areas. This may include strength, flexibility, balance and various movement assessments. Finally, you will receive a customized plan of care including therapeutic exercise.
Treatment sessions will be one-on-one with your physical therapist. Treatments will consist of targeted therapeutic techniques and movements to address your specific limitations. You will receive education on your condition and self-management skills to get you back to doing the things you love the most.

The long answer: The answer to this one is a bit tricky based on the laws regarding Medicare and insurance. Under the law any covered services of Medicare (i.e., treatments that are medically necessary) cannot be provided by a cash-based PT. However, those who are Medicare beneficiaries and would like to participate in fitness and wellness services offered by a PT are allowed under the law. If the patient’s status changes to become medically necessary then they must be referred out to a Medicare-contracted provider.
The short answer: Cash based/ Self pay PT’s can provide fitness and wellness services that Medicare does not recognize as medically necessary.

-
Yes! As a licensed medical practice we can accept FSA or HAS cards.

As a cash-based clinic, we do not take insurance as a primary payment. This allows us to deliver one on one care with your physical therapist that most insurance-based clinics cannot provide. The out of network cash-based model allows us at Movement Mantra Physical Therapy to spend more time with you at all phases of evaluation and treatment due to less overhead costs in navigating insurance. This also allows us to have the freedom to treat you for as many sessions as needed instead of limited by what your insurance dictates and qualifiers such as “return to base-line”. Instead, we move past this traditional model to not only get you feeling better but prevent injury in the future. Furthermore, we have the freedom and flexibility to treat you as a whole and do not require multiple referrals for different problem areas. Overall, “Cash-based” or the self pay model at Movement Mantra Physical Therapy allows you more direct and efficient treatment, with no surprise bills and allows a holistic approach to treatment getting you back to your favorite activities and reach your highest potential.
